Blueberries

With flavors that range from mildly sweet to tart and tangy, blueberries are nutritional stars bursting with nutrition and flavor while being very low in calories. Blueberries are at their best from May through October when they are in season.

Blueberries are the fruits of a shrub that belong to the heath family, which includes the cranberry and bilberry as well as the azalea, mountain laurel and rhododendron.
Blueberries are a source of vitamins, minerals, dietary fiber, phenolics, and flavonoids
Blueberries are very low in fat and sodium

My favourite recipe:
Tofu Blueberry Shake
1 package silken tofu
1 medium, ripe banana, sliced
1 cup blueberries - fresh or frozen (I prefer fresh of course!)
1 cup soy milk
1 teaspoon vanilla
1/3 cup sugar

Place all ingredients in a blender and blend until smooth. Use this basic formula for many fruits - vary with spices.

Try replacing the regular sugar with fructose.

Sounds sooo delicious... try replacing the sugar with Maltitol Syrup, Stevia or Agave Nectar (a little bit of Stevia goes a long way). You can get them all at Whole Foods Market. Yum!
